WHERE: Knuckleheads Garage - 701 North Montgall Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64120 United States
We’re bringing serious heat to this month’s meeting with TWO legendary speakers you won’t want to miss:
Joe Marshall – Straight from Cisco Talos, Joe’s diving into the cutting edge of cybersecurity, threats, and mayhem from the frontlines of one of the world’s premier security intelligence groups. Expect war stories, insights, and things you definitely won’t hear on a webinar.
Neil Wyler (aka Grifter) – Grifter cut his teeth on Long Island dialing into pirate bulletin board systems and reverse-engineering malware-ridden games, skills that turned a curious ten-year-old into a self-taught superuser. He parlayed that early ingenuity into key volunteering roles at Defcon, running forums, scavenger hunts, and speaking since Defcon 10, and eventually took charge of the Black Hat Network Operations Center, architecting and defending the Wi-Fi that powers one of the world’s premier security conferences. In his SecKC headliner talk, he’ll recount that journey from mischievous BBS kid to the man who keeps hacker meccas online.
Whether you’re red team, blue team, or just here for the beer and hacks, this is the SecKC you tell your friends about. Don’t miss out.
If you haven’t been to Knuckleheads or want to make sure you’re not stuck on the wrong side of the train, check out the venue info page!

6:35 - 7:25 From Disruption to Deliverance: Hacking for Good in Wartime Ukraine - @Joe Marshall
This is a talk about hope, hacking, and being a force for good. To protect themselves in the midst of Russian aggression, the Ukrainian military utilizes electronic warfare to blanket their country to defeat radar and GPS guided smart munitions. This has the unintended consequence of disrupting GPS power grid synchrophasor clock measurements and creating service outages on an already beleaguered and damaged transmission electric grid. Working with an international and multi-company team, Joe and team innovated a new rapid solution to counteract GPS jamming utilizing off the shelf switches and straight up hacker can-do attitudes to help save lives. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll understand that hackers can be a true force for good in this world and help it suck less.
